Cuts and scrapes and fabric scraps

This is where i begin.

i received my grandmother's thread case and button bin a few years ago. They sat in my room reminding me of when i used to sit at her kitchen table, arranging the contents by color. She would hum an old tune hovering over the stovetop, while i decided which button was truly my favorite.

There were lots of great things about being a kid, now there are lots of great child-like things about being grown up.

A spring night this past year, i sat at my own kitchen table, needing to do something creative to deter my mind from silly melancholy thoughts. Something inventive and innocent. So i collected my grandmother's sewing supplies along with a bit of leftover fabric from an unsuccessful college project..... behold a little, broken-hearted, smiling stuffed cat was born.

It travelled all the way to India and back with me, this summer. Over Pakistan and the Swiss Alps. Over the ice caps and Greenland. It suffered some minor injuries from a few scuffles with an India street cat, later named Monkey. However, in the end, we both survived.

Later, i was inspired to make a few different types of creatures: bats, dragons, frogs, and now swans. After gifting quite a few of these creations to friends and friend's kids, i turned to Etsy: fidorable.etsy.com.,
